Hanger Hall and SkillSet
During both the fall and spring semesters, SkillSet travels to Hanger Hall School to provide weekly maker-based curriculum for the students.
During our time together, students learn a variety of hand tools and power tools as they solve design challenges, create small individual projects, and work together to build larger legacy projects for the school.
Each semester is different and tailored to the needs of the school and developmental and curricular needs of the students. SkillSet instructors weave math, design, and engineering lessons in to hands on building exercises that increase student confidence, practice dexterity, coordination, and fine motor skills, and help improve teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Past projects have included: picture frames, tool boxes, scale models with diagram interpretation, full-scale planter boxes, a custom picnic table, and collapsible camp chairs.
This partnership was made possible with the help of the American Association of University Women.
