Hanger Hall and SkillSet
Planting seeds of teamwork
In fall 2021, SkillSet partnered with Hanger Hall School to provide 8 weeks of maker-based curriculum for 8th graders on-site.
Students learned a variety of hand tools and power tools as they created tool boxes and mitered frames for collages. The course culminated in a design challenge, where students were asked to create scale models for garden boxes that would be built on the school’s grounds. The designs were juried by the students during a very serious afternoon of silent voting and critical design discussion, and the chosen design was built on-site by the students — now on display in the front of the school!
This partnership was made possible with the help of the American Association of University Women.
