Christa Flores

Christa Flores (she/her) is a lifelong STEM educator who specializes in the intersection of design, science inquiry and tool literacy. She has a Masters degree from Columbia University in Science Education and was chosen in 2014 to be an NSF grant funded Stanford Fablearn fellow. She is the author of Making Science:Reimagining STEM education in Middle School and Beyond and the co-author of Meaningful Making: Projects and Inspirations for Fablabs and Makerspaces (vol 1 and 2). She is passionate about researching and designing meaningful making experiences for makers of all ages.

Christa moved to Asheville in 2017 to help establish the makerspace for the Asheville Museum of Science and is the founder and producer of the Asheville Maker Faire. She feels there is no greater pleasure or purpose in education than creating the conditions for others to invent, remake and fix the future world we live in.
